Notes:

Seed is a variety of programs used to view FPC databases, their bands files and the Gel files associated with them. There are a number of executables built from the GPL'ed source code, some are viewer programs such as contigview and markoutliers, and some are programs to pick lists of seeds for sequencing, such as seed.

Recently, seed was used to pick 8862 seed clones (200KBase average size) that were sent off for sequencing, this represents approximately $300Million dollars worth of sequencing.

Currently people working on this project are Steven Ness and Chris Fjell.
