Freshmeat page:

This project has been slurped into Syck and is included with Ruby 1.8.0.

YAML.rb (was YAML4R) is a YAML parser/emitter library for Ruby. And YAML is a specification for storing objects in plaintext.

For example, here's a list:

  - grey
- ape
- salad

And, here's a cozy little dictionary:

  salad: grey ape
size: 10
includes: raincoat

Oh, but there's too many type representations to go into here. Just to give you an idea, YAML4R can represent the NilClass, FalseClass, TrueClass, Integer, Float, Date, Time, Regexp, String, Array, Struct and Hash. There's also support for add your own types.

So, that's the drill.
