Notes:

Samba, The Next Generation.

This project's focus is on Windows NT Domain Interoperability. Samba TNG can act as a Primary Domain Controller, has limited Backup Domain Controller capabilities, has support for smbpasswd and also for LDAP as the SAM Database.

The next stage in TNG's development will involve a rewrite using freedce - hosted on dcerpc.net. TNG is critical to freedce's interoperability with Windows NT as it provides an NT "Named Pipe" emulation layer. This NamedPipe emulation layer provides the means for freedce to plug in to an NT environment, such that not only can developers produce NT Domain interoperable services and APIs but also can write other services and APIs that would otherwise be limited to Windows NT.

If your server or client application uses CreateNamedPipe in the Win32 API, and it used to therefore be limited to NT, that is now no longer the case: TNG provides unix with the means to interoperate with NT at this level. see dcerpc.net for details.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
