This project started as the first 'Wish List' project at SourceXchange. Co- lead developers Frank Castellucci of C.O.L. Consulting and Jim Salmons (Advogato profile - sohodojo of Sohodojo are the catalysts of this community-based effort to develop a Software Requirements Specification (SRS) for a web- based project planning software/platform to serve the unique needs of the Open Source development community.

We are not suggesting that there are not some interesting Open Source offerings in this domain. What is important about this effort is that the sponsors have funded the earliest stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) starting with a good foundation look at the problem domain including a 'comparables analysis'.

Rather than specify a particular instance of a project planning software solution, Frank and Jim are attempting to craft a rigorous specification which will serve more as a guideline for exploration of a class of such software solutions... something cool to build upon and extend, both codebase and 'wetware' experience. As part of this project, we've founded the Center for Open Source Collaboration Technologies at Sohodojo.

The budget is small and the vision large. We encourage you to check us out, and better yet, let us know what you would like to see in such an Open Source platform. Collaborators welcome.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.

Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.

If you're a C programmer with some spare time, take a look at the mod_virgule project page and help us with one of the tasks on the ToDo list!
