GNU stalkerfs is a desktop search engine which not only gathers metadata from the underlying filesystem, but also from files themselves.
This way it allows the user to do full-text searching or to search for filetype-specific metadata, like the interpreter of a shell script.
The user controls GNU stalkerfs via a FUSE-based virtual file system, allowing to control the program entirely from the command line.
As of today GNU stalkerfs has not been released yet, but a development release is planned to be made available in mid-July to early August 2008.
