Back from Wedding. We spend in car total about twice as much as at the actuall wedding. Traffic sucks. the Wedding was quite nice though in this very beatufily contry side place. Very nice views. Spend half a day today walking around the center of Annapolis which turns out used to be a capital of USA, only 9 month but still. We found this IceScream place that was unbelievable, comparable only to the real stuff in Italy.

more work. very pissed at the crap I had to deal with today from some, that will remain unnamed, third-party product. Oh well. But we can't take it anymore so we writing our own replacement ;) YEAY! pretty cool stuff. Buy-vs-Build decisions are so easy a few days after you start using the crap that you just bought, and which looked so good on paper and demos.

Came home in bad mood, but after dinner and 2 beers felt much better and started hacking. Added pixmap support to the conduit list in the new gnome-pilot capplet, and a few other cleanups. Couple more hacking days and it might be ready.

Also compiled evolution. Looks quite nice already. Was amazed that I could actually send and receive mail with it.

It's 2 am and I should be packing and going to bed. Tomorrow have to be up at 8 for a 4-hour drive to a wedding in Maryland. Argh, well maybe I'll just hack a bit more ....

work

It's been a while since the last entry again. Just can't seem to make myself post these regularly.

Have been quite busy at work lately, with a brand new system to design in Java. Pretty cool and all. I get to design the whole thing and implement the core and then delegate the other bits to everyone else. But very time consuming.

So this leaves very little time to gnome-pilot. Continued to work on the capplet this weekend, but its going slow, and I'm not sure I quite like where its going. Might need to rethink it a bit. Got the basics of archiving working and did some minor applet updates that I actually committed, cause everything else is just unfinished bits sitting on my hardrive.

Hmm. I've been slacking. On advogato entries. and other things. like hacking. Bad, Bad vadim.

I've started growing a beard. Scary. But my wife likes it, which is a big surprise.

Las Vegas was nice. Too big though. And for some reason I didn't feel like gambling. Don't know what came over me, 3 days in biggest gambling city and only lost $20. I guess I preffer gambling on stock market. (and loosing more than I would allow myself in the LasVegas ;)

0.1.51 is out. Mostly bug fixes and other minor things.

Not waiting for the aftermath I'm off to Las Vegas to win back all the money I lost in the stock market ;)

Every birthday boy (and girl) deserves a good toy. No reason to exclude myself, especially since I was really, really good this year. So I treated myself today to this very cool Sony digital camera. I'll have to become a full fledge movie director/producer now to justify this purchase. Let's see how it performs tomorrow...

No hacking, but having fun watching the stock market go back up again even more violantly then it was coming down.

Ahh the weekend. Had to bring home the work laptop so I could finish some work. Instead I wound up hacking on gnome-pilot.

Finally reproduced memo_file bug that was reported like dozen times over the last 3 month. It really takes a combination of weird action to reproduce, which is why I couldn't before. It is now fixed along with few others that were reported. The rest look bogus, old or unreproduceable. We can probably close them all when 0.1.51 hits the street.

Continued to work on the combined conduit capplet and it's getting closer, but still needs some major work. I'm targeting mid of May, because seems like next 2 weeks will see little of hacking.

And finally cleaned the house a bit in preperation of coming holidays.

14 Apr 2000

In the evening went with close family for my birthday celebration. It was nice. I kept it lowkey this year, instead of usually throwing big parties.

Well it happened. I'm another year older. Feels like 2 or 3 though. Other than getting plustered drunk, which I am now, there's really nothing else worthwhile to do on your birthday, now is there?

My days are busy watching the technology market bleed while at work. Ahh, the pain, the pain...

I just wondered, which time zone is Advogato in, PST? It is already April 13th in EST, but not on Advogato. Pity... I'll have to wait then...
