New Trac Macro

I have finished the debianNeedVersion macro for Trac. It is a simple python script that receives a Debian package name, a comparison symbol and a package version. It returns the found versions for each Debian suite, where green names are for satisfied versions and red names are for unsatisfied versions. (based on the given version as parameter).

You can see some examples on Debian-BR-CDD site and get it on the Gnosis SVN.

(old) News...

My last post here happened on 11 Sep 2005 and I really have a lot of news, some true news, some old news. I think the most important is that I'm going to live in Montreal/CA on Feb 2005. I intend to learn french, english and know more about Quebec history, etc, etc.

I want to do some volunteer work on any non-profit organization there, so I already have had contacts with MLUG people. I will finish my computer science graduation at UFBA before going to Montreal, but I have no plans about jobs there.

I'm finishing the epylog debian package and I think next week Otavio will do the upload. I'm writing other trac macro, a bit more dificult than my old macros...

My last activities as a no-job-man:

tiago-solo-01.ogg
tiago-solo-02.ogg
tiago-solo-03.ogg

Building one more debian package

Dropline Neu is a great icon theme which could be in Debian-BR-CDD on next versions... The author has been made other good icon themes, but non-dfsg compatible. This time it is GPL and I'll intend to put his great work in Debian.

A bot for TRAC

Ok, I know there is a python ircbot lib, and a lot of IRC bot implementations, RSS plugin that get info from TRAC SCM systems, etc. But anyway, I decided to write a IRC bot for TRAC, for learning purposes. And here is it:
http://gnosislivre.org/websvn/.

I have just a first commit, and I know this code is very ugly, but I'll turn it better, I hope I could. This moment it only receive a number as parameter on any #channel and returns some info about the ticket. I can't forget to say that the debconf bot (from debian-br people) is being a great reference for me.

Let's say more interesting things: PSL-BA has now hackergotchi heads group, very funny:
http://planeta.psl-ba.softwarelivre.org/heads.html

...is it really a interesting thing?

hmm, bye.

CCs and DFSG

I would like to use the Dropline Etiquette icons on <a href "http://cdd.debian-br.org">Debian-BR-CDD Project, but its license is not DFSG compatible. So, is very common people asking about why CCs aren't DSFG compatible. The first step to understand it is, of course, reading the DFSG and CCs. But if you want a quickly way to know about CC and DFSG, take a look at debian-legal Summary of Creative Commons 2.0 Licenses.

Anyway, I've sent a email for the Dropline author asking for a possible changing in their license to a DFSG compatible, maybe following these debian-legal recomendations:

" Authors who use or are planning to use the Attribution 2.0 license should consider a similar Free Software license such as a BSD- or MIT-style license [BSD], [MIT]."

"Authors who use or are planning to use the Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license should consider a similar Free Software license such as the GNU General Public License [GPL]."

Now I'm waiting...

New Macro for Trac

After debconf5 arriving I couldn't sleep very well, so I woke up really early and I wrote a cool macro for Trac environment that you can see here.

Anyway, some examples of usage:

Giving a maintainer mail address: [[debianBTS(tiago@debian-ba.org)]]
Giving a bug number: [[debianBTS(311091)]]
Giving a package name: [[debianBTS(bbclone)]]
