here's the minimum of what I need to be motivated to work on technology. One can't imagine how humiliating it is to be subject in each working day the low life forms, low life arguments and low life antagonism that is prevalent under angry Danny boy's jurisdiction.

1. transfer out of Dan's jurisdiction and work directly under Chris. 2. move my desk next to John's cube 3. need a phone with caller ID 4. if I can't keep my existing IP, I need ISU to treat my VPS as an extension of our network. 5. I will tail Jim where ever he goes until he gives me access to IBM datapower

That is the absolute minimum working condition for me to continue my career here.

prepare the next proposal 'An experiment to measure union vs. non-union compensation structure in relationship to quantity of work vs. quality of work". Using adaptive algorithm previously published. Hopefully I'll finish it on Monday to submit it to DEP.

so my boss said to be me, 'give you a heads-up, i'm going to put you on this project. We're getting VMware ESX from Dell. I want to move all our application servers to VMWare. You can do some research if you like...

I have been using Morally Inflexible servers for a couple of years for my own website. I am pretty happy with their service and low price. I recently had this exchange with Luke on Xen vs. KVM. I'm thinking of getting Luke's 'The book of Xen'

Scary

if Linux booting under 5 seconds is scary, what would you call the incident of finding your Dell PowerEdge 6850 server RAID 10 RedHat AS 3 Update 5 OS's hard drive /dev/sda's partition table simply evaporated (non-existed any more) after a normal 'init 6' ? No apparent system hardware faulted... After recover the OS, re-install Oracle Cluster Ready Service and re-done Oracle 10g R1 -> R2 instance upgrade, everything seems to be working again... but still.. that's scary when I know for 99.9% sure that I'm the only one rooted on the box...

Other weirdos: can't get Oracle ASM instance to connect to Cluster Manager even if $ORACLE_HOME/bin/ocssd.bin is running after $ORACLE_HOME/bin/localconfig reset ... what makes dbua working and NOT working? Acronis TrueImage Echo Server would give read error when I use 'trueimagecmd --partition: --filename: -create' to backup raw partition that contains SYSAUX, SYSTEM tablespace under Oracle ASM ...
