csv: Assuming you're tracking testing or unstable, that usually means you should be using upgrade instead of dist-upgrade. Then examine what's left over and use apt-get install to upgrade whatever looks sensible, leaving gimp-data or whatever until the matching binary package is available.

I believe aptitude's dependency-resolution can work this sort of thing out by itself and present you with proposed solutions, but I'm too old and set in my ways to change now, so I use the above technique.
