Business Apps - A GUI pondering...

Just yesterday, I was thinking...
Given the acceptance of web based (web centric) applications, how is the use of traditional windows GUI apps faring?

Are all apps going to be deployed via the web browser in the future? Isn't there some kind of limitiation that the browser imposed when compared to native widgets?

I continue to dwell on this question as I start digging out the pro and cons of each approach. More on this later.

after working throughout the night till 6am, I find my little girl sleeping on my bed with my wife. sigh....

guess, I have to squeeze in a bit and cuddle her. my back's gonna suffer a bit though.

I am doing part-time studies for my degree... and this semester I'm taking Computer Graphics with OpenGL. I'm swamped at work and of course spending time with my little girl. Now I need to deal with this OpenGL assignment. Maybe some guru around here can give me some pointers.

If so, please offer your assistance to slok00 At yahoo Dot com

sigh... its best to complete your studies before you start work assuming that money is not an issue.

For a long time, I have track a little nifty language called REBOL ( ).

REBOL is not backed by the giants, rather it is developed and conceived by Carl Sassenrath, the system architect responsible for the world's first multitasking multimedia operating system, the Commodore Amiga OS.

What appeals me is the ease and elegance that REBOL allows one to developed applications that is small and yet portable. An application or reblet (as the community called it) can be deployed on over 40 platforms. REBOL bring with it the ability to overcome the short fall of web based (HTML) applications and is in fact a step closer than Java to WORA (write once run anywhere).

Unfortunately (or fortunately), REBOL is not free. It is proprietary and it has a small developer base.
