Went to Frys for the first time in several months. Was
looking for a pcmcia compact flash reader. They are out
indefinately, but Best Buy has them (-: But since I was
there I had to wander around. Found a PIM that is built
into a pcmcia card. It mounts as a memory device, have to
talk to Hinds on monday and find out how those things work.

So, got an e-mail back from the GNU translation contact.
Looks like I am going to have fun and start a Latin i18n /
l10n project (-: After a bit of playing, I realize I need
to go buy
some latin dictionaries and what not. I think I can crib
some
translation ideas from Italian though. Hopefully, davidw
does not mind helping.

Started reading the mailutils code again. Gonna implement
MH finally.

RevKrusty has working KDE debs. We are going to get
together and split the debs up and convice the maintainer it
is a good thing (-:

My TODO list keeps growing, but it is nice to have something
to work against. I am such a scatter brain.

Ryan (neuro)
welcome to Debian. it is sooo nice to see new
maintainer open.

So kde-base refuses to complete a make install. Seems
like
DESTDIR is not being passed onto the makefiles like it
should. I was really looking forward to playing with
Konqueror -- I could have a completely free system.
Netscape is one of my last closed source items.

KOffice compiles and installs, but fails to run with
some
kind of mime error, seems like it does depend in base in
some way.

The debian packages of KDE need to be changed IMHO. We
compiled each kde tarball into one mega package -- who wants
all of KDE's games? I don't need the KDE window manager,
but Konqueror would be nice. Seems like we need to break
this down and make some task packages to catch up the slack.

So spent most of today trying to get the lame ass piece of
shit that is qt 2.1 to compile into a deb. Man, I have seen
better makefiles from 14 year olds and this is a company.
Troll Tech, hire someone who knows what the hell make clean
does will ya.

Well, hopefully I will get KDE to go after I get qt
installed. Seems people on debian-user want it and
RevKrusty may need some help.

Now I need to figure out how to turn a persons name into a
link here on advogato.

First day, reading all the interesting things there are
to
read.

Something intersting on the web, been a long
time
since
I
found that.

Spoke at Sacremento LUG last night. I think it went
well.
The group is small, but has a good range of knowledge. It
was also nice and informal. A welcome change over SVLUG.

I added my first Debian maintainer Tuesday. It
feels
real
good. Was assigned two more applicants yesterday. One of
them is not looking too good.

So, went to the Bay Area Freebsd User Group meeting
tonight. Topic was a comparison of linux to bsd. First
thing I noticed was the higher caliber of the attendants.
These people are all kernel hackers. I felt a little
outgunned. The chat went well and was decently flame free.
Did my best to do a linux != red hat. Mentioned apt (yay
jgg).
Mostly everyone talked about minor differences in
implementation of features. Big thing I noticed was how
much more willing bsd people seemed to be to buddy up to
companies and proprietary code. All in all, a good night.

Sara[h] if you ever read this, let me say you are one
amazingly beautiful woman.
