Happy new year and all that.

In other news, those using (or considering using) the AMANDA backup suite might be interested in hanging out in the #amanda channel on irc.freenode.net. I've made a start on a FAQ for the channel, feel free to give us some suggestion.

Mad propz to bradm for his help!

Oh yeah, buy Red Hat Advanced Server and keep me in beer.

I'm a murderer.

Today I felt I had to certify someone, and not because of
the contribution they've made to free software and its
community. This is not a nice feeling at all. It would be
nice to not care about issues like this, so I wouldn't feel
compelled to make such a noxious little statement, but
that's the price of having free will in a way.

Bum.

In other news, the weather continues clement. In fact,
the weather continues to be stinking bloody clement, most
unseasonally so for Brisbane. 38C this Saturday, wah!

Project idea - hack CPAN.pm so it produces RPM targets.
Instantly, the hell of installing packages like RT2 and
mangling your native Red Hat install (via chewing up the
Perl RPMs) goes away (yes, I know debian can do this in a
couple of ways). Come, my friends, let us ride once
more into the breach, and &c!

Oh yeah, and let love rule.

The choir decided it needed some sort of group calendar,
so
I hunted around and found phpGroupWare, which
shows great promise as an alternative to Micros~1
Exchange.

I've
found myself getting involved in the development thereof -
so far, at least, by breaking it and finding bugs. It's been
a fascinating experience watching the project develop and
grow, from the inside, so to speak. I've suggested an idea
or two which have been incorporated, which is gratifying,
and I'm actually coming up to speed on the code. Actual
code!
Aiiieeee!

Work, such as it is, continues at the Cthonic ISP with
the soul-searing, non-Euclidean machine room.
