Funny I woke up after just 5 houres of sleep (I was babysitting the 7 years old son of one of my friends, while she and her sis where out partying yesterday night (it was OK, he was just sleeping, so I could sit and hack on Nix and my font without any problems))... And totally awake! At this time! Whoa! And now I actually found that stupid nixPoll() bug (basically a copy-paste-error), so modulo that nixReadLine returrns the newline-character at the end of the string for some non-obvious reason, the Pipe test passes... 4 tests passed, 16 more to go...

mpr: There's anoher reason to use ssh (instaed of say telnet) in addition to cryptated communication - secure authentification. And the latter is indeed something with a use in the Free Softtware/Open Source society - to know for sure who modifies what is crucial. And OpenSSH and GNU Privacy Gard provides just that! But I agree with you that the cryptography part of those packages is not at all as needed in this society (although in the real world)...
Ouch, nixPoll() is still resisting all my atempts to debug it!
I also polished my new font, Times Gothic (an antiqua with a handdrawn look and thicker left-legs than ight ones) a bit more, and added some currency symbols, ligatures and other special symbols. It is quite OK as a text-font, but still needs some polishing before code can be printed with it... And of course, I still havn't figured out how to change the vertical advancement of a font in pfaedit...

I've worked some for Take (5 houre, actually! Whee! Money coming soon or something :) (he called me at half past 9 and asked me where I as, as I had obviously waked up by my mp3-player-wakeup-script, turned down the volume and falled asleep again, and I went over to him without eating any breakfest. ouch), tweaking his diskless-boot-thingies and getting his server with devfs to work again after a kernel switch, where the indicess of the scsi-cards got switched(!).
Also I've been Nix-hacking again; I've replaces the NIX_CRASH macro, so that it not only prints the mesage and the currrent error mesage, but creates a new error message from the mesage, that inherits from the current one, and replace the current one with it. Thus, I become able to debug a lot of pipe-related errors. But the Big Rewrite of NixFile isn't over yet, as at least nixPoll() is not working, for some reaon or another...
And for the bigger picture: I sure don't like to be hungry. And now I'm having a gap between my last student-loan payout and my first alary. A gap of two months, with more or less only the money I get from Take, plus 2kkr (~200euro, methinks)... At least, I don't have to pay any rent during summer...

Nah, I'm up to late hacking Nix again, after being out to the tudent pub's first summer (outside) pub, listening to Ladybug... And tomorrow I'l have to be up at 9 to work a bit for Take. Oh, what a world :) And then I found this site, and thought "oh, a Lunarstorm for hackurs. Muahehehe!", and just had to create a little account and add my projects... Perheaps something good will come out of doing so, but atm, it sure looks like wasting time (my favourite occupation ;)...
