I just signed this, you should too.

The NSA has far too much power to spy on innocent Americans without any meaningful oversight. It's gotten so bad that even one of the original ultra-conservative authors of the Patriot Act, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, joined with progressive stalwart Rep. John Conyers and Senator Patrick Leahy in introducing a bipartisan NSA reform bill. It's a good first step, and we need to show the House and the Senate that there's popular support for Congress starting the process of restoring our constitutional rights. I just signed this petition -- will you?

I just took action to demand that the New York Times and Washington Post follow the lead of the L.A. Times and adopt policies of refusing to publish any letters to the editor or other content that denies climate change. I think you should too. http://www.credomobilize.com/petitions/tell-the-washington-post-and-new-york-times-don-t-promote-climate-change-denial?sp_ref=16592132.4.941.e.0.2&source=mailto_sp

Pick the 2013 Rubber Dodo Award Winner -- Vote by Midnight, Oct. 30

It's time to pick the most outrageous eco-villain of 2013 -- and we need your help.

The Center for Biological Diversity established the Rubber Dodo award in 2007 as a way to spotlight those who do their very best -- that is, their worst -- to destroy wild places and drive species to extinction. The award, named after the most famous extinct species on Earth, is given out every year.

This year has brought many threats to imperiled species and wildlands and many deserving winners to choose from. Vote now and invite your friends. Voting closes at midnight Oct. 30.

Cast your vote here: http://action.biologicaldiversity.org/p/salsa/web/questionnaire/public/?questionnaire_KEY=1644

My Mother Was Killed by a U.S. Drone

Hi,

I signed a petition to U.S. Department of State which says:

"In 2012, my 67 year-old Mother was killed by a U.S. drone strike, and now the State Department is preventing us from sharing our story with the American public and Legislature.

Please urge the Department of State to immediately approve a visa for our lawyer, Shahzad Akbar, so that he may escort my family to the United States and allow Congress to hear the first hand account of what it is like living under drones."

Will you sign this petition? Click here:

Thanks!

My response to the DFA. #syria #assad #chemicalweapons

US military intervention in Syria will damage US reputation and the economy. It is an unwarranted intervention that Congress is not likely to approve, and it will not make Americans safer. Instead it will expose the the country to the same blowback and hostility that we have been seeing for more than 10 years. This is not the right time for the US to police international agreements. Finally, US military intervention is not supported by the American people. This plan should be set aside, for more pressing matters.

My Personal Note:
Background:

Most Americans oppose a Syria War - and I am one of them.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were disastrous, both in human and economic terms. War in Syria is likely to be even worse.

We have no idea who we're fighting for - Al Qaeda?

Moreover we already have a federal budget crisis that is causing devastating cuts to food stamps, Head Start, and other crucial programs. We have absolutely no money for a new Syria War.

A U.S. war is not the solution to Syria's civil war - we need increased diplomacy instead.

As your constituent, I demand that you vote against a Syria War, and block any funds for any military actions that could start such a war.

As citizens, our collective actions make an enormous difference. I hope you'll join me!

Free Brad - #manning

The Bradley Manning trial shows again that the concept of US justice is a complete joke.   Bradley Manning has sadly shown us another truth. US justice is a mockery.   We will never forget Bradley Manning. We will never forget the abuse that he received from the US.  These jackals have delivered their disgusting brand of "jurisprudence" to Bradley Manning.  That so-called judge should bend over and kiss Bradley Manning's fanny.  US wipes out 1 million is South Asia, then calls Bradley Manning 'wanton', 'reckless', and 'dangerous'. Sheesh!  Clearly, the lack of moral character does not reside in Bradley Manning.  People look at what the US has done to Bradley Manning and they say, "Never again".  This travesty of justice will not stop what Bradley Manning started. Many have adopted his worldview and motivations.  The US will have one man in prison. Bradley Manning will have billions of supporters.
