Notes:
I'm a big fan of Python, and i've made a few tiny contributions to it here and there.
I've done a number of things since 1995 which i call "mediators" (today the hip terms seem to be "active proxy", "transducer", or "transcoder", but the concept is the same). I created Crit, the first universally-accessible public annotation system for the Web, and MINSE, the first universally-accessible mathematics notation and display system for the Web, and Shodouka, a service that makes Japanese web pages viewable in any graphical browser even if you don't have Japanese fonts.
I got a Computer Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and then came out to California to work for Industrial Light and Magic. I'm a Senior Associate of the Foresight Institute and an Alcor Suspension Member.
I've finished my second-round submission to the Software Carpentry contest.
I'm pretty disappointed with myself for not having had the discipline to work more on it earlier. Owing to this laziness, and in part to catastrophic failure of my laptop (twice!), the latter half of the paper is severely rushed. I would have preferred to include lots more examples and explain things in more detail. I'm annotating the document with Crit to add some of the missing commentary.
Crit 0.9.2 was released today. Some things got cleaned up. Setting up your own Crit server should be pretty easy now.
I think i'll go hack on that Python documentation thing that i promised everybody at the Python Conference.
