To Sleep-Wait Or Simply Spin-Wait

We talked about it yesterday about what to do when under attack. One said it was bad to spin-wait in single/multi-threaded brute-force attack because it will bring the system down its knees. Another said sleep-wait does the same thing, cripple the system with tons of sleep-waits for engaged threads.

Book: The Mystery of Capital

Still reading the book. I found deSoto describe third-world scenes all too familiar. Also figured and later agreed to his definition of Dead Capital which in my own interpretation: capital in the black market. All hidden in the so-called underground economy. Largely due to stifling government procedures, businesses that can't wait or even afford just go underground.

Anybody who is familiar and have been to third world countries have seen some form of service that operated underground. A pedicab plying the narrow streets operate despite the fact his cab is not registered, probably with no cab driving license too. That is all part of what deSoto framed in a nice way.

haruspex, not sure exactly what you mean by that. Though I caricature deSoto--at the moment--as a western ideological puppy, still a lot of his descriptions about third world property rights with respect to capital look sound/strong/valid to me. That may change later as more information are collected.

Why You Can't Sue Google

I told someone about Google squatting on someone else's property and that could be a liability they could be taken to court with. I was then referred to the link shown above.
