Winds of Change

I looked up the meaning of title up above to figure in a nice way of putting things in perspective.

The wind blew and took me to a place that somehow looked uninteresting at first, simply because I wasn't that aware of the details. After going through the indoctrination, reading the biz plan on how to carve niche using their formula. Guess this should be interesting as I get more details.

After looking at the time required needed to get this task going, I figured this one would require a job similar to a part-timer, 16 hours a week, cobbling up code to add to the sales menu.

And that means, my playing time will severely be affected. A good chunk of play time will have to be shaved-off to get the new one jammed down somewhere.

I'm not sure if this one is right for me. One thing I'll be missing are my cool friends who--for years--played competitively. They'll be asking questions about my commitment.

I will not be spamming people, though. After figuring how much spammers make [1 2 3], they seem to be doing good, but this racket of mine is legit. No shady deals whatever. Just simple plain service to those who have the same interest as mine.

Latin: ojusdem

I tried looking up the meaning of ojusdem as described in the entry, but nothing turned out. The word sounds like an adjective modifying a noun. So elimintating it will mean losing granularity.

ID Ruling

In one of the biggest courtroom clashes between faith and evolution since the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial, a federal judge barred a Pennsylvania public school district Tuesday from teaching ``intelligent design'' in biology class, saying the concept is creationism in disguise.
DirecTV v. Pepe

Satellite television provider had private right of action against alleged signal pirates under joint civil-criminal provisions of Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986; sections of Act permitted claim for unauthorized interception of satellite television broadcasts. [1, 2]

Desire: An Inter-cellular Protocol

This may sound strange, but this article seemed to suggest the social aspect of cells in a biosystem. Desire is basically a stimulus fired from cells to cause other cells to take action; as shown in this interview about desire and habit.

First Sale Doctrine

Spent some time reading about First Sale Doctrine which gave me ideas on what freedoms does it provide to the individual. Interesting to note how this doctrine can render obsolete some of the scare tactics corps use over their customers.

More Certiorari Cases

Too many to mention, I've been reading a lot of cases, mostly certiorari ones. Some are cool read, like civil and criminal, but the ones that seem to interest me are the ones related to the First Amendment. To be specific, the Establishment Clause is definitely sensational.

I wonder if they can publicise divorce trials? Might be a good show, better than J.Springer. Deposition alone could be rivetting.

Trust Tokens: Post Mortem

Results look positive, no more alerts from SecGroup about attacks. It seems that trust tokens is enough to contain a long sustained attack, though.

Linux

Been following the GLX/AIGLX developments. Looks pretty good from here. Waiting for the API to stabilize so I can play around with it later.

In Partibus Perfectis

We've been talking about perfecti for several days now. Dad seems to be contemplating on moving to a higher plane, to the level of a perfect. He doesn't know it originated from Catharism but he is aware of the process. He seemed to have learned it in his twenties but somehow can't put it to practice; perfects live a different life than normal people like me. For one, he will be wearing a dark brown habit, which is kinda cool.

Anta Takalam Arabiya

Guys here are giving me a hard time for bringing the Arab Vocab CDROM. I've been practicing and testing myself for two weeks now speaking in Arabic. So far, things are looking bad pronouncing the hamza. I have a lot of words to memorize, though.

"You have to treat religious speech equally with secular speech"--Alito

"If 'settled' means that it can't be reexamined, then that's one thing. If 'settled' means that it is a precedent that is entitled to respect . . . then it is a precedent that is protected, entitled to respect under the doctrine of stare decisis."--Alito

WALLACE v. JAFFREE

More readings, I continued on looking for additional historical data. The case of wallace v. jaffree [1] was an interesting read as well, using this article to figure out who Jaffree [2] is.

Also read Rehnquist's dissenting opinion.

Lively, Engaging, Argumentative

Been looking for forums where trolls don't squat. It seems that some of the sites I frequent (not this one) for discussing legal/religious topics have gone down, either none wants to debate the issue or simply they're just not the type of people who argue. Anyway, I think there is one site that just might be a good fit for me, though. It seems they've been doing a lot better than the sites I know. Which means I'll be spending some time hanging around students4democracy and argue till the cows come home.

Allegheny v. ACLU

We did discuss/debate the issues Allegheny v. ACLU over extended meal, putting some of the decisions made not in line with the sentiments of the people. Though rule of law as defined in the amendment and supremacy doctrine reigns supreme, the supremes on the other hand somehow muddled the issue on the side of pluralism. I guess this issue needs another round, perhaps another extended meal is in order.
Linux: Firewire support

Spent some time tracking information on getting the Dazzle DV-Bridge running on Linux. Turns out this page contains several items needed to get the project moving.

I.T. and Stare Decisis

Stumbled into an interesting paper about the impact of the doctrine of stare decisis on information technology. As usual, junkies who read text like these are welcome to read it.
What impact does the changing technology of information have in the process of legal reasoning? Using the 1967 episode of Star Trek entitled "Court Martial" as a launching pad to explore the issues of legal reasoning and information technology, this article explores where no one has gone before. First, how have previous changes in information technology influenced legal reasoning, such as the rise of the doctrine of stare decisis during the advent of the printing press? Second, what impact may computer information technology have in the processes of legal reasoning in contemporary society? Live long and prosper!

Rule of Men? or Rule of Law?

We got to debate the case yesterday about the status quo, whether the given motivation was rule of men or law. Gladly took the rule of men, stating their actions were guided by their selfish interest, pushing politics followed by economics.

Defense, Fortification

It looks like I'll be working more stuff writing more code related to whacking. On top of that, performance related issues will be covered as well.

Currently working on moving to 128-bit encryption with revolving keys. This should keep data sealed for some time.

Man, this is not easy stuff.
