It has been a while since I don't post an update, so here it goes.
School
School has kept me really busy. Lots of grading, but is a lot of fun to teach. Classes are ok. Genetic Algorithms is really interesting/screwed up.
Geek related
On the geeky side, I have not had much time for development, but I'll be hosting a PHP/MySQL workshop for the ACM chapter in 2 days. That sounds like it will fun, the only problem is that I am getting sick, and I hope I don't get worse by then.
Also, mrbook.org is now my old PII350. I put a lot of goodies on the server. I really like the qmail+vpopmail+sqwebmail setup.
Music
I went to see Tool last friday and what can I say... I am speechless. The only problem is that there were some pretty stupid people throwing shoes at Maynard, and he stopped singing in the middle of pushit. That sucked. I bet that the shoe idiot upgraded to XP the first day it came out.
Next concert... King Crimson!@@!$!@#%%@#!@%#! Oh Yeah, I have waited my whole life for this.

I just found that my project stompboxes2 was featured in an article by Dave Phillips on the O'Reilly network. That was kind of cool.
On a different note, I just started a new semester as a TA for cs202. It is fun. Also, as a TA, they made me keep a log of all the time spent doing this, so I wrote a pretty decent Java application that will help me do this. It is called TimeLog. Check it out!. I know is too task specific, but I really like it, and it's what I've been using lately to keep track of a lot of stuff. Sugestions ???

Today was my first day as a TA for CS201. It was fun, I must say, but I just can't stand working on Windows machines. It was kind of funny that I was getting used to that environment as much as many of the students. I can only hope not to get too used to that thing.
On the other hand, I started writing maybe the most complex plugin yet for stompboxes2. After seing Drums & Tuba and reading the manual for the Line6 DL4 Modeling Delay (btw, if anyone wants to donate one to me or can sell me one for cheap, please do!!), I got the inspiration I needed to start designing my own real time loop device. The core of the plugin is mostly done, it is on the GUI where a lot of the functionality has to be really well designed to work best. Any suggestions on it would be appreciated (the code is available through CVS).

Hey! Well, I guess this is my first diary entry. I'm mostly an audio developer. I started with stompboxes, which has now evolved into stompboxes2. It is a modular, realtime audio effects machine for Linux.
I also worked on the LAMP project, an audio editor that uses LADSPA for the plugins.
Some time ago, I started experimenting with musicscript, a very simple and clean music scripting language. Having worked with LADSPA before I could not resist to add LADSPA plugins to this program, opening the range of sound processing capabilities (I just started on this last week and the first phase is done).
Anyway, you can see these and other projects at http://mrbook.org/projects

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
