Well so much for posting more often, oh well .....
I've been playing around with, gtk-perl and gnome, wrote
a few useless applets.
Quite nice to be coding in perl
again, been doing way to much C coding.
I'll be changing
jobs, in a few weeks, which will hopefully give me
enough time to work on my project, and contribute to others.

Well it's been a long.... time since my last entry,
hopefully that will change, I've been busy with a lot
of work and personal stuff so... But any how I'm working
on a new project, called logchecker (currently looking for a
new name), well I'm lead developer of this project and it's
quite interesting, up to this point 80% of the code is done,
so in a few weeks it might be made public.

What is it about?

Well the idea is to have a program to parse the logs, for
specific data, usually security related, then a nice
formated report is given, so what is interesting about that?
Well the admin will be able to use the program to monitor
the whole network and receive a report detailing the
findings, or he might just configure it to collect the info
and send it to a central server for backup or whatever.

The program is being coded in Perl, we are using a modular
design so that a person with Perl knowledge, will be able to
either use the individual modules or hack the program how he
see fit.

Today has been a hell of an interesting day, it all started
at 10:00am built kernel 2.4.0-ac21, to work on some hardware
that is not supported and i needed(personal stuff ya know),
kernel broke, some typos in the source, well we are all
human :-), found some incosistencies in the fb code, patch
all ready submitted by the time i finshed mine (well at
least i don't have to download the submitted patch) the
thing is, found a lot of stuff to tweak and pinch and no
work in my driver.
The boss is driving me up the wall
with all the W2k
vs Linux thing, i just sit there and nod, yeah yeah whatever
is me who stay's late working not him, still the whole
development team uses linux and there is nothing he can do
about it (well he could fire us all, that would be nice.)
The
security suite is on hold and possibly will go to bit heaven
oh well.. Been Learning Python got to addmit is a nice
language,
i prefer Perl though.
Been working on a project that
is,.. not totally defined, what is certain is that we'll
make an application to aid in the writting and organizing of
docs for linux, the app is aimed to help newbies but also it
will be usefull fo the more experienced users there is a
site up at: http://www.ocelot.dyn.dhs.org.
That's it for
today back to hacking.

Well today i've been hacking on a cross plataform security
aplication, the idea is to scan all machines in a given
network, and
save all information in a main server, this server scans the
logs and
deploy solutions to some problems and warns the ADMINS of
problems it can't solve. Well enough, back to coding.
