if you were ready to sit down and try to engineer a clone of the Street after reading Snow Crash like I was, you might like this. It's called Second Life. It's about the closest I've seen anything get to the Street so far. I'll be posting more details/screenshots in my livejournal later.

damn i'm happy today :)
the battery in my ipaq wouldn't charge, and I thought it had to do with linux apm, but it turns out it was the sleeve it was sitting in. replaced it with a new pcmcia sleeve and boom! here's a screenshot of me playing with a julia fractal.
