The OpenLDAP Project is holding its second OpenLDAP Developers' Day conference in Vienna, Austria on 18 July 2003. More information is here. I'll be talking about some of the work we've done on integrating OpenLDAP with NetInfo, and the SLAPI plugin API. Drop in if you're around!

I'm moving to New York in May for about 6 months on a music
scholarship. I know finding accommodation is going to be
difficult, but if anyone has any suggestions please drop me
a line.

Our redesigned web site
should hopefully make finding documentation for our open
source software a little easier.

Well, I am living in Paris for the next few months, which
is proving to be a very interesting experience indeed.
Getting decent Internet access is particularly difficult
if, like me, you are planning on staying for less than a
year. In any case, it is good to have finished university
once and for all (thesis passed) and to have some time to
concentrate on living, music and computing.

Code-wise, I have been working away on our Active Directory
integration project, XAD. I've also been taking a look at
setting up a Linux-based PABX for our Melbourne office,
using snom IP phones, OpenH323, and some PSTN
or ISDN to H.323 gateway software.

Things have been busy. Apart from finishing my Honours thesis
on the use of jazz in film music, I've been interested
in the stuff happening at
dcerpc.net.

Been working on an Objective-C binding for XML-RPC. It's
working, based on xmlrpc-c; see this link for more
information. The thing is whether to rewrite it to be
independent on xmlrpc-c or not.

nss_ldap-129 now supports autoconf. Tested on Solaris, Linux, and FreeBSD; AIX testers wanted! I expect things to break but this was an important thing to do for portability. Thanks to Doug Nazar and David Begley who have worked on the pam_ldap autoconf support, upon which this work was based.

Joe Little and I gave a talk last night SVLUG on LDAP directory services and the Open-IT project. Open-IT is, amongst other things, a clearinghouse for RPMs of PADL's Open Source offerings.

Over the weekend I wrote some glue between JavaLDAPand Ganymede. Ganymede is a very cool, object-oriented framework for managing directory information, and although it is not designed to be used as a directory service per se, it maps closely enough to LDAP that I thought it would be an interesting project to integrate the two.

Also, there are new releases of pam_ldap and nss_ldap. These should show up on Freshmeat soon.
