Eng-lish: (n) language used by engineers which is commonly considered to be orthogonal to other languages. A mish-mash of mathematics, jubiliant or sarcastic tone, and (in textual communications) fraught with misspellings and grammar mistaches.
Contributions- These are projects I've submitted patches to (though they may not remember). I enjoy trawling freshmeat for cool new packages, and occaisionally I fix things when it scratches my itch to do so:
BUILD Engine (

!Sredavni Ecaps - My first attempt at a 3D game. SLOW, and undoubtedly buggy, but a fun first attempt. Hover Carnage - Dan Helfman, a fellow UCLA student, started this one. I've spent large quantities of time and countless milligrams of caffeine sweating the details on this one. Ginger - (Ginger Is Not Ginger Except in Reality) A modeller for hover named after someone on Gilligan's Island. Maybe someday she will find her way off my machine onto the net. :) Simple Rey - an extremely simple sphere raytracer. Unique in it's use of a non-planar perspective projection. Escher - a hacked shell ("Easy SCHool ExeRcise") Interesting Projects I'm not involved in: Nautilus - General data browser. Makes me drool.. Mesa3D - Stable 3D libraries for Linux XFree86 - X Windows for Linux AlephOne - a port of Marathon to many platforms (Linux among them - Thank you Bungie!!) SDL - Simple Direct Media Layer OpenAL - Open Audio Library? Cool Companies (In no particular order): Bungie (I lament their sale to MS, but I cannot deny I still think the best of Bungie's heart) VA Linux (Hardware, software, these guys rock!) RedHat (RedHat distro, gdb, gcc, etc) Creative (OpenAL + SBLive) Loki Games (Involved in cool projects (see above))

"Don't let school get in the way of your education."
-Mark Twain

This is a quote I have been thinking about when considering how much work (Employment for a salary) I should do while attending school. I think it's important because it doesn't say "school is bad" (though that implication might immediately come to mind). In fact, the statement simply implies that there are times when school restricts rather than furnishes opportunities for education.

Found out that whitespace doesn't matter in my comments. :P

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
