Miod was right I was quite scared not only because I had to talk in english but also I had the feeling it could be perceived quite badly to say that licenses are a necessary condition to do Libre Software but no sufficient.

I had a little chat with Richard who confirmed that I was evil. I really do think that people in free software do great things because

  • they find pleasure in what they do,
  • they use GPL/BSD/... because they can reuse code so that they can focus on what they are interested.

I was told that saying that telling fun and "lazyness" (efficiency I would say to be politically correct) were evil and had nothing to do with Free Software.

Since this day, as I regard every project from the community without any moral judgement, I drop the Free Software/Open Source appelation that divide (stupidly) our community to use the Libre Software appelation: Hey, we head toward the same direction, why would we fight?

TODO:

After some years in Free Software and in companies, I am still amazed how rather young people handle their project with maestria, while senior one are able to screw them in companies. (66% of project are late). I would be interested in formalizing a little bit the key to success in free software/open source project. At least I'd like to be able to write a cookbook for project animation in our community. I do not call it project management, because I see no-one feeling managed, but rather contributing. They feel like doing it, it has nothing to do with management (handling lower rank worker), but animation (making your project attractive enough so that contributors comes to you).
