Notes: I am a professor of management at Gonzaga University. While I was a doctoral student at Stanford University, I wrote a dissertation on the sociology of the trust metric system used in the Advogato community. A smaller version of the dissertation was published in the American Sociological Review (October 2005) as "Social Status in an Open Source Community". If you have any thoughts on the social or managerial implications of the peer certification system, please feel free to send me a message. stewartd at gonzaga dot edu
