Currently I hack a bit on getting freenet to compile (and work) with GNU GCJ java compiler.

Old projects:

a HTTP/WebDAV server in perl (a little stupid, I know:). I have a working version available. Perhaps in time I will try to split out some core functions from that to seperate perl modules.
an LDAP-server based on umich (discontinued when OpenLDAP started).
DBD::Informix4 (perl/DBI module) - ophaned - no access to that env anymore makes it impossible to maintain for me

Have contributed code and patches to:

PostgreSQL (unix domain socket code)
Wine (long time ago)

Finally updated my page.

freenet is fun and a good cause, but it is not ready for production yet. Anyone here should have the technical skill and patience to try it out.

java, hmmm, compile once - debug everywhere. Gosling said recently that the VM is the best part of Java. OK Sun give us the source on a free licence so we can debug the flaming thing.

Java is a nice language compared to VBS which a has to hack around with at work. Oddly enough I never learned basic, just as well. I now know enough to hack a few ODBC accesses together which is probably as far as I have to go in basicland.

Spam

ORBS is shutdown. Guess it got too popular for Big Business to bare.

ORBS will be lost by us and many other postmaster since use it's services was very effective to lessen the amount of spam entering our MTAs. Now we have one back to the more conservative and less efficient MAPS RSS.
I submitted to slashdot, but these days of corporate control /. only seems interested in toys and SF-like dreams.

Cars

Bought a BMW 525 Xi Touring, not new but new enough.
Picking it up on friday. My old Pickup will NOT be missed :-)

About to move later this summer, leaving Kiruna for Luleå. Feels pretty OK and it is only 350 km between the towns so I could be "home" in 3 hours.

Sweden just lost to Czeck republic in the icehockey world championships. It was still 2-2 after 10 minutes of sudden death, so it was decided by penalty shots. This means Czecklands vs Finland in the final, because Finland shouldn't have any trouble beating USA.

This is posted with Galeon (CVS-version) with Mozilla 0.9-engine. Still a little bit slower then Netscape 4.77 but it is getting there. One of my internet banks still does not work with Galeon, so I might not switch yet.

Car trouble!
Still it something mysterious happening in the electrical system and the motor does NOT run smoothly until it is warm.
Unreliability in the car situation and my friend being away from town (with her dauther and car) kept me in town these past sunny days. :-(
