LOL, I don't use Advogato as often as I used to... I just looked at my last diary entry and thought it was funny. To follow up on the entry, I made it through and obtained my Computer Science degree, and now I'm a researcher at the Institute for Security Technology Studies... I really really like my job, they pay me to research computer security issues... I feel very fortunate...

I find it a little disheartening how many people seem to support the Open Source Movement in favor of the Free Software Movement... It should be all about a software users freedoms, and the responsibilities we as programmers have to give the user all the information possible. If you were having a house built, wouldn't you want to be entitled to the archetectural design? Would you ever hire a layer that wouldn't show you his track records? Would you trust a car that didn't publish it's specs? "oh yeah I drive an XYZ, I have no idea how many Cylinders it has, or anything about the transmission, and I guess there is some sort of suspension, well they tell me I need to put gas in it"...
