Hello.

  • My proper weblog is here.
  • My work weblog is here.
  • My project site is here.

Thank you, carry on.

Site containing real diary is down and I'm in weblogging withdrawl. Hello.

Insomnia. Inconvenient, but not unexpected. Had I been thinking clearly, I would have had a nap this afternoon to offset the inevitable. Currently sucking back as much coffee as humanly possible, because I soon have to break down the machine and put it in a box.

I'm moving today.

For a while I thought I was going to Nova Scotia. Then for a while I thought I was going to Edmonton. No longer the case. I'm going to Ottawa. Back to ol' Ottawa. This is a Good Thing.

And I'm not even moving for a job. That's a new little twist on things, because since 1992 I've only ever made major moves like this (ie: interprovincial) to either go to school (NS), or to go to new jobs (ON, PQ). No job this time. In fact, I'm currently unemployed, and have been for exactly one month, today.

Note: I am looking for work in the Ottawa area. When my website is back up (at http://www.osdi.org) there will be a resume there for potential employers to peruse at their leisure. If anyone knows of jobs for tech writers, web developers, intranet developers, information architects, and other such information-related stuff in the Ottawa area, feel free to drop me a line at deb@dria.org.

So, the movers will be here in 4-5 hours, then I'm off and away out of Montreal. I didn't much care for Montreal, but don't take my word for it. I have several friends who liked it here rather a lot. I'm just not a big fan of large cities. Ottawa is a nice little city. I like Ottawa.

Mmm...coffee. *slurp*

For the record:

- The Open Source Writers Group project is officially dead. I would have handed it off to an interested party if such a party existed, but, well, it doesn't.

- I've handed the Linuxchix project off to new maintainers and I now have nothing to do with it at all.

- I've resigned from Zero-Knowledge.

- I'll be moving back to Nova Scotia in the very near future, and have every intention of staying there for the rest of my life.

Cha cha cha.

Just a quick peeve note: if you haven't posted a diary entry for a while, don't start it by saying "Wow! I haven't posted in ages!" Chances are that we didn't notice, and even more likely, we don't care.

I'm not grumpy, just busy.

cha cha cha

I need a vacation.

Needed: one volunteer project lead for each Linuxchix and the Open Source Writers Group. I don't have time to take care of them any more (which should be brutally obvious by now).

If you want to take over leadership/maintainership for one or both of these projects, send me a note at deb(at)dria(dot)org.

Thanks, and godspeed.

For the record, I have not left ZKS. zaitcev is on crack.

As schoen said, this is funny. Just reposting the link in case someone missed it. Hee.

In other news, I've been maintaining my diary at my narcissism site, if you're wondering if I'm alive/dead, etc., all the details are over there (hint: I'm alive).

Now, for something even more completely off topic:

WTB: second-hand Nikon FM2 camera body, ideally in excellent condition. Send me a note if you have one lying around that you'd be willing to sell. You probably don't, but it never hurts to ask.

A request: I'm looking for recent salary surveys (ideally Canadian...those wacky California-centric ones really don't do me much good) that cover "new media" jobs (ie: web developer, web development manager, blah blah). If you know of one, please send a note to [dria at dria dot org].

Thanks muchly.
