dyork: Chances are, the Americans weren't
invited to the first Dominion Day (as Canada Day was known
from 1867 through 1982) celebrations . One of the many
things they were preoccupied with was how to steal some
Canadian land. In July 1866, the US House of
Representatives passed an annexation
bill with the intent of taking over most of Canada .
Canadians weren't
too keen on that idea.

They came to their senses, though, so we didn't
have to burn
the White House down a second time.

2:15 am EDT

I am firmly convinced that the Universe has gone
completely to hell. I submit the following as proof:

[ dave0 enters Tim Hortons ]
Donut Jockey: Good morning, sir
dave0: Hi. I'll have a large double-double, and...
hmmm...
[ looks at donut rack and sees two stale donuts]
dave0: ... what donuts do you have ready in the
back?
Donut Jockey: Nothing you can have. Umm... I mean,
none.
dave0: Huh? What? You mean you have donuts back
there, but I can't buy one?
Donut Jockey:Um, well, yeah.
dave0: You mean, I'm here, a paying customer, and you
won't sell me a donut, even though you have some ready?
Donut Jockey: Well, I'm not allowed to. Corporate
policy... I can't sell those donuts until 3am.
dave0: That's the dumbest thing I've
ever heard
Donut Jockey: Well, if head office found out I sold a
fresh donut before 3am, I could lose my job.

2:22 am EDT

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Woods On A Snowy Evening

Now back to the Perl code. Where did I put that coffee
again?

I mean, after all; you have to consider we're only made
out
of dust. That's admittedly not much to go on and we
shouldn't
forget that. But even considering, I mean it's a sort of
bad
beginning, we're not doing too bad. So I personally have
faith
that even in this lousy situation we're faced with we can
make
it. You get me?

Eldritch
