Learned more than I ever wanted to about path name conventions on the Mac, but overcame some of the problems there. Wrote a new version of the path normalisation routines which should return consistent results. <p> <P>Current state of distutils on the Mac is that, with a bit of tweaking, it can do standard installs. C Compiler support needs <em>serious</em> work, though.
