ultimate frisbee and mechanical translation
met a computational linguist last nite. mechanical translation. apparently he is one of 40 people in the world that does this kind-of thing. he's a great ultimate frisbee player. fast. he's looking for the holy grail of all human languages. the base-language that when translated into mathematics, supplies a common ground for connecting all languages, be it japanese-to-icelandic, or english-to-swahili, to-whatever. very interesting conversation. I wonder what that base language would sound like....
