Older blog entries for automaton (starting at number 1)

Yes, the term paper is finished! Some cleanup still required but...

Dancing, shouting, etc.

While I'm at it: now I am really convinced: applets suck. Never try to make some disk access or anything like this. The process of getting the applet certified and getting people to understand what they have to do (a lot!) to get all the features... (after all, people are downloading binaries all the time, right?)

As for the term paper, I don't care too much, that people (mostly scientists and of those only a very few) have to use the appletviewer, but try to do this on a homepage. Even if the applet is cool, none will create certificates and policies and all that crap...

Seems that Sun was a bit too paranoid... and having Netscape and M$ add their own flavors to the security stuff doesn't help at all...

But since this project will probably stay closed, it does not have a real relevance...

.plan:

  • get the 1d automaton in swing working
  • define WOD 1.0
  • start wod (wallpaper one dimenaional ca)
  • rewrite the ca view applet, the code is so crap...
  • sometimes in the far future make the ca editor
  • random thoughts applet (should only take 4 hours...)
  • rewrite homepage with scripts

achieved:
  • the 1d 2bit ca (on start page, awt prevented the cooler version :(, see .plan above...

Well, one of these days...
