So, what do I do? Well I spend almost all of my free software energy on gEDA (GPL Electronic Design Automation). I'm the benevolent dictator of that project. :-)

Other info: I work as a hardware/software (more software nowadays) engineer.

gEDA, GSoC, and BarCamp Boston 4

Regretfully, the gEDA project was not accepted into GSoC 2009. Maybe next year. Many thanks for Stuart Brorson for doing all the admin leg work again this year.

Either way, gEDA development continues, slowly. I have a whole slew of projects/tasks that I really ought to find some time to work on. Although some of my free time is spent working on non-gEDA free software.

I am looking forward to attending BarCamp Boston 4 in 10 days. :)

gEDA and GSoC 2008

The gEDA project has been accepted into GSoC 2008 as a mentoring organization. We are grateful for this opportunity for the second year now (thanks Google)!

If you are a student who is interested in free software and working on electronic circuit design please checkout gEDA's GSoC 2008 page as well as the suggested projects page.

For more info on the project in general, please checkout the gEDA homepage.

New year, new look for gEDA website

I spent part of today giving the gEDA website a new look with the logo on the left and the two line nav bar on the right. I also properly templated the wiki to look like the rest of the site. Hopefully these changes will work with all the mainstream browsers out there.

The idea and prototype for melding the logo into the blue line came from Peter Clifton. Peter also created working html and css to make it work on more than just Firefox. Many thanks Peter.

New blog

Welcome to my new blog. I used to write occasionally (read: rarely) on Advogato, but now I might post some things here. I might even syndicate this blog over there. Pretty much all my free software development time is still spent working on gEDA.

Might as well start off with some real content. I've written up the steps for doing a gEDA/gaf release here (on the gEDA wiki). Comments always welcome.

Finally. Got another (20050820) release of gEDA done. Even after seven years of working on the same project, I still enjoy it. Always something to fix or change or improve. :-)

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
