I am one of the primary developers of Boa (http://www.boa.org), a GPL'd webserver capable of rather high performance even on low end hardware. It rocks on high-end stuff, too. I also enjoy Python (http://www.python.org/), and have forsaken Perl for it. I program primarily in C, and used to know C++, Java, Scheme, and others. Of course I know sh, awk, grep, sed, and friends.

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
