Released
jMarks yesterday. It's a sweet
online bookmark repository written entirely in Java. The
best part is that, thanks to the servlet 2.2 spec, the
binary distribution of jMarks is one WAR file and you just
drop it in your app server and you're good to go (except
for creating a directory for it to store bookmarks). It's
pretty robust and handles multiple users - the
administrator of course has an option of making the system
public or private. Check it out if you need a central
location for your bookmarks. After it's stable, I'm gonna
host it on my server for public access.

Wow, I setup a Sourceforge account for a new project I'm
writing,
jMarks
(an online Java based bookmark repository).
But that's not what the wow is. I then posted a Help
Wanted notice on the site and over ten people applied to
help, and a bunch of them sent me resumes. That is
definately cool. Though none have participated yet, I'm
being optimistic.

So I got this idea for a cool Linux hack/program... A stub
shell program that (when you log on) mounts your home
directory
automatically from an encrypted loopback file, starts the
shell of your choice, and then unmounts it when the process
ends. The stub would have to be a suid root program
responsible for dynamic allocation of the loopback devices
(/dev/loop*) and for introspection of the available
encryption algorithms supported by the running kernel.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Got back from San Jose last night at about one in the
morning, and I had to come into work all jet-lagged. I
finally fixed the bug in Submail concerning the Trash
folders of the users, so now there's only two more show-
stopping issues before a full source release.

Well, I'm finally in Silicon Valley (San Jose to be
precise). I "had" to come here for work on Tuesday, and
I'm already burnt to a crisp. Today I went out on the bay
in a nice yacht with some friends from the office, saw
Alcatraz and the bridge, etc... Touristy but still very
cool.
Since I've arrived here in California I haven't gotten any
coding done for either work or my open
source stuff. I
keep polishing off my Submail project, preparing for
release. Every time I get ready to open up the codebase, I
always go back in and try to fix as many bugs as humanly
possible.
