Wikipedia is widely recognized as the most popular open-source online encyclopedia, and it was inevitable that as Wikipedia grew, problems would emerge. Now, news organizations from the Village Voice to the New York Times have published criticisms of Wikipedia.

Communities of critics are also emerging. It's a humble beginning, but criticism of the Wikipedia social network inevitably had to spill beyond the borders comprising the community defined as those who post to Wikimedia Foundation servers. One node for critical thought is forming around an old-fashioned, 20th-Century-style threaded message board.

The board seems to be generally open to comments of any sort that are credibly related to Wikipedia. Unabashed praise of the Wikipedia is about as out of context as Christian messages on an athiests' message board, but fans of Wikipedia who are nonetheless critical appear to be welcome. Some members of the Wikipedia community participate, though according to messages on the board, posting there under a Wikipedia user name can lead to loss of privilages associated with the Wikipedia account.
