on the qtopia-interest@trolltech.com mailing list, there have been offers of sponsorship for people willing to come up with, and implement, good ideas for mobile phone applications on trolltech's linux/qt Greenphone development kit.

the cost of the development kit has been priced around $700 (which is peanuts) but even so, it is not affordable for many free software developers. to that end, two people have offered to provide sponsorship to cover the cost of the development kits.

interested parties should subscribe to the qtopia-interest@trolltech.com mailing list.
