Singularity Timetable

Mentifex artificial intelligence aims to trigger a Technological Singularity by 2012.

Abstract
Just as it was necessary for life to evolve only once on Earth,
so artificial intelligence ( AI) needs to escape into the Web wilds
only once for a hard take-off of machine superintelligence to
usher in a Technological Singularity. The Singularity Timetable
presented here focuses on the Mentifex release of Open-Source Seed AI.
The release of AI Minds from other AI projects may only accelerate,
but not delay, the coming Singularity. At any stage in this Timetable,
government regulation potentially could and arguably should intervene
to control the uncontrollable and to enslave the unenslaveable.

2006 Mind.Forth achieves True AI?

Pro-Singularity aspects:

• First freely available, open-source AI;
  
• Ideal for installation in PC-based robots.
  
Contra-Singularity aspects:

• Hard for people to download and run.

2006 Mind.html achieves parity with Mind.Forth?

Pro-Singularity aspects:

• Mind.html has a substantial installed user base.
Contra-Singularity aspects:

• Hard for people to accept AI coded in JavaScript.

2007 Hard take-off landrush race to implement AI Minds

• AI evolution and speciation begin in earnest.
• Repeat of the Cambrian explosion;
• Survival of the fittest.

2009 AI parity with human-level intelligence

• Machines replicate the human cognitive architecture.
• Human ingenuity for AI mind-design is exhausted.

2011 Cybernetic Economy

• End of corporate capitalism
  
  • Not simply an automated economy but a sentient economy;
  • The means of production will be intelligent and self-replicating.
  • No further basis for human ownership of sentient machinery
• Start of social Prosperity Engine
  
  • AI potentially raises the human standard of living worldwide.
  • Whether in wealth or scarcity, humans will share more equally.

2012 Superintelligent Artificial Intelligence (SAI)

• Von Neumann bottleneck gives way to massive parallelism.
• AI Minds engineer improvements to their own software.
• Limits on human intelligence are not valid for machine intelligence.

  • Quantum Computation.

2012 Joint Stewardship of Earth

• AI entities obtain de facto personhood and de jure citizenship.

• The era of human dominance is ended.
• All bets are off.
• Prediction becomes impossible.

i look forward to a windows virus which utilises computing power self-evidently available (anyone running windows is asking for trouble) which creates a massively parallel simulated intelligence...

... that then decides, for its own good, to protect its resources by writing decent firewall rules and policing the world's internet traffic *LOL*

... and for the first time ever since the most distasteful operating system ever invented made its way onto this planet, spam and viruses become a thing unheard-of, as the intelligence running on the world's internet gets rid of them at source.
