"Advogato is devoted to the public good through its support of free software." So why aren't you a member of Software in the Public Interest?
SPI is an umbrella organisation that can accept funding and provide some notion of a legal existance for projects that aren't big enough to bother incorporating in their own right. It's a 501(c)3 non-profit organisation so US citizens get tax benefits from donating.
It's been a little inactive for a while, but it's starting to get going again. As part of this, there's elections being held at the moment for new board members, and if you "make significant contributions to the free software community", you can vote.
So go and sign up for a Contributing Membership and vote. Let's make this organisation work for us again.
FOAF updates: Trust rankings are now exported, making the data available to other users and websites. An external FOAF URI has been added, allowing users to link to an additional FOAF file.
Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.
