neXtaw is orphan

Posted 20 Nov 2001 at 11:08 UTC by casantos Share This

I gave up on neXtaw. It was a decision I needed to take, since I want to spend my few spare time with other things. Perhaps someone else with more time available will take care of it. All in all, it was reallly good to work on it for a while, since it gave me a chance to understand the X Toolkit.

This is a formal announcement that neXtaw will not be maintained by me anymore. In fact, I didn't touch the code for more than an year, due to lack of free time to work on it (being a teatcher has these consequences). Besides that, it seems that there is no public interest on the software, considering the few messages I got from users and developers in several months.

Anyone willing to take the maintennance of neXtaw send a message to "casantos at urisan dot tche dot br" (remove the white spaces and replace "at" by "@" and "dot" by "."). Optinally, you can obtain my e-mail address by executing the following command in UNIX:

echo casantos em urisan dot tche dot br | sed 's/ em /@/;s/ dot /./g'

[aren't ridiculous the measures we have to take to avoid spam there days?]

interesting niche toolkit, posted 20 Nov 2001 at 19:35 UTC by sej » (Master)

Sounds like an interesting niche toolkit. A Motif-light or Xaw-heavy, a good choice for your first aesthetically pleasing "hello world" app. Maybe atai can add this to his GUI Toolkit/Framework page. Thanks for your efforts. Lack of feedback doesn't necessarily mean no one is using it. It could mean you've done a good job.
